![]() Chubb Insurance is insuring Freeport LNG, a methane export terminal in Freeport, Texas. We have just a few weeks to pressure them not to renew their policy. Why? Just like you need insurance to drive a car, fossil fuel projects need insurance to operate. No insurance = no terminal. Freeport LNG is one of the largest methane terminals in the country, and the nearby community has been fighting back against its impacts on their homes and our shared climate for years. And yet, Chubb is still insuring it, all the while claiming to care about climate risks. That's why today we made a racket at the US Open, where Chubb is a major sponsor, to call them out and make it known that they're insuring this dirty project. Help us spread the word by taking over Chubb's US Open hashtag with us on social media with #ChubbAtTheOpen:
In July, Freeport community members hand-delivered a petition at Chubb's office in NYC with over 10,000 signatures from YOU, calling on Chubb to listen to their requests to finally stop supporting the terminal. Now, help make sure Chubb gets our shared message from every angle, including social media. The insurance policy renews on October 1st, so it’s a critical time to keep the pressure up. Chubb can't claim to be a "steward of the earth" while insuring these methane terminals that directly harm the communities in Freeport and exacerbate the climate crisis. Chubb must stop insuring Freeport LNG once and for all. It's match point and the ball is in Chubb's court. First, like and share STMP 's posts on Instagram, Bluesky, or Facebook that we linked above. Then, can you make a post of your own on your social media of choice? Help keep up the pressure by taking over Chubb's US Open hashtag #ChubbAtTheOpen with us on social media:
Make sure Chubb hears that from you before October 1st. It's time for Chubb to play fair. The whole crowd is watching. In Solidarity, the Stop the Money Pipeline team.
