Friend, the communities affected by the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio are still waiting for accountability.
The
Petrochemicals released during the derailment contribute to serious
health and environmental risks for our communities. Even though the
risks to our communities have been well-known and documented health
concerns, the petrochemical industry continues to expand into the
backyard of millions of Americans.
It’s communities of color that are the most at risk when petrochemical companies bring their carcinogenic chemicals into town.
Petrochemical
companies have been putting their profits over people for decades now,
and if they aren’t checked this will only get worse. That’s why Hip Hop
Caucus is demanding :
-
An end to the rapid and unnecessary expansion of petrochemical production in the United States
-
Stricter regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency on
the petrochemical industry to account for the health of the people and
ecosystems surrounding facilities.
-
Planning and zoning commissions require and enforce buffer zones
around petrochemical facilities to protect our communities
Sign our petition and show our elected leaders that we’re ready to move beyond toxic petrochemicals >>
For future generations,
Rev Yearwood
President & CEO
Hip Hop Caucus
