U.S : Lawmakers voting soon on anti-hunger legislation. Tell them to support programs that will mean more meals on more tables across the country (URGENT).

Dear friend – Congress is currently debating legislation that has the potential to strengthen or make permanent some of the nation’s most important hunger-fighting programs. As millions of people, including 13 million kids, may be facing hunger this year, this vote couldn’t come at a more crucial time.

Your lawmakers need to hear from you: help us send 3,000 letters to Congress TODAY. Tell lawmakers to support programs that will mean more meals on more tables across the country.

Speaking to your lawmakers is one of the most important things you can do, friend. This Hunger Action Month, we’re asking our community to help us reach an ambitious goal : 100,000 actions to fight hunger.

Today, it’s critical that our lawmakers hear from as many constituents as possible, right now, before they vote on COVID recovery legislation that includes hunger-fighting programs.

We need 3,000 advocates to speak up today – tell your lawmakers to champion anti-hunger legislation.

Tell Congress : Strengthen anti-hunger programs in COVID recovery legislation

Millions of families across the country are still feeling the impact of the pandemic, and increased prices at the grocery stores are making it even harder to make food dollars stretch. No family should have to make the impossible choices between nutritious food and paying their bills, buying the medication they need, or getting gas to get to work.

Through COVID recovery legislation, our lawmakers have an opportunity to expand and make permanent several programs that have already proven to make a huge difference for families facing hunger, including :

  • Summer EBT – this program ensures that kids and families that depend on free or subsidized meals at school have extra food support to make it through the summer months and other times when school meals aren’t available.

  • The Child Tax Credit (CTC) – the expanded CTC has the potential to cut child poverty in half and is already making an impact for so many families, but is currently only funded through the end of the year. Proposed legislation would make the strengthened CTC permanent.

  • The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) - this program puts nutritious food from U.S. farmers and producers on the tables of families facing hunger across the country, ensuring children are able to learn, grow, and thrive.

Right now, while Congress is debating this legislation, is the most important time for your lawmakers to hear from you. They need to know that families across the country are depending on these programs.

Tell Congress: Support legislation that will help kids and families have access to nutritious food all year round. Help us get 3,000 letters TODAY.

Thank you for being a champion in the fight against hunger this Hunger Action Month, and every month.

Sincerely,
