U.S : You may be funding anti-choice fake clinics !

Dear friend,

Did you know ? YOUR tax dollars are being used to lie to, manipulate, and coerce pregnant people about their health care options. And it's about to get a lot worse.

Title X is a critical government program that has helped millions of low-income people receive birth control, family planning services, and reproductive health care for over 40 years. This year, Trump made extreme changes to the Title X program by implementing a "gag rule" which forbids providers who receive these funds from educating, counseling, or referring patients for abortion care.1 These changes were targeted at Planned Parenthood and other comprehensive healthcare providers with the goal of forcing them out of Title X--just another part of Trump's war on women's health. Because of Trump's "gag rule," Planned Parenthood and other clinics that provide crucial health services to millions of women will no longer have access to much-needed federal money from Title X funds.2

To make matters worse, Title X funds are now being given to far-right, anti-abortion fake health clinics that trick and mislead pregnant people instead--clinics like Obria.3

Tell Congress : Stop HHS from giving Title X funds to Obria and other anti-abortion, anti-birth control fake clinics.

Since 2014, the faith-based Obria Medical Clinics have been masquerading as legitimate health centers for women and pregnant people, when in reality they are created to confuse, manipulate, and prevent people from learning about or accessing abortion services.4 Not only do their "clinics" give false information about abortion, they also refuse to provide realistic contraceptive choices to their patients, including oral birth control pills, IUDs, or condoms.5

And who's funding Obria ? You are. This year, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded Obria $1.7 million of federal Title X funding to continue to spout lies and mislead patients with fake medical advice.6 Health centers that oppose basic contraceptive and family planning methods should never be allowed to receive taxpayer dollars. But that is exactly what is happening with Obria. It's an outrage, and Congress must intervene immediately.

Obria plans to replace Planned Parenthood and other health clinics--according to Obria's own website, they currently have 35 "affiliate clinics," 22 "clinics" in process, and at least seven new "clinic inquiries" across the U.S.7 Their plan is to expand to more than 1,000 sites by 2021 with the help of Trump. This dangerous shift away from comprehensive sexual health by the current administration will have a devastating impact on people of color, LGBTQ folks, and rural Americans who need real care.

Thank you for taking action.
