The USPS Board of Governors is meeting November 10, and they’re making it harder for the public to speak out. The Board has eliminated live virtual testimony, forcing people to either travel to appear in person in Washington, DC, or submit written comments by Friday to be read into the record. Earlier this year, USPS adopted a dangerous rule that would prevent some voters from receiving their ballot in the mail in response to a Trump executive order aimed at voter suppression. Courts blocked its implementation for the 2026 election, but the threat to voting by mail in 2028 remains. The postal board should have stood up and refused action earlier but they didn’t. They can and should rescind the rule now to protect mail-in voting and the independence of the post office. Trump has already installed former FedEx board member David Steiner as Postmaster General, putting a corporate insider at the helm of one of our most vital public institutions. Trump and his Wall Street allies want to gut the USPS, slash services, and hand profitable operations over to private corporations while millions of people are left paying higher prices for worse service. If you’re in DC, join us outside USPS headquarters at L’Enfant Plaza at 9:30 a.m. on November 10 and register to speak. Trump and his greedy Wall Street buddies want to undermine our public post office for corporate profit. Privatization would mean higher prices and reduced services, devastating rural and Indigenous communities, seniors, veterans, and small businesses that rely on affordable mail delivery. Instead, the board should expand services like postal banking, generating new revenue while bringing affordable financial services to underserved communities. We’ve stopped Trump’s attacks on the Postal Service through overwhelming public pressure before. Now we need the board to hear from us again. Thank you for standing up for the people’s post office. - Annie and the Save the Post Office Coalition Team.
