Donald Trump attempted to exploit the 1887 Electoral Count Act to stay in the White House after losing the 2020 election – using archaic language to justify his pushing the vice president to overturn the election results. Trump and his MAGA allies came dangerously close to overthrowing our democracy on January 6 and will try again if we don't stop them.

The House recently passed the Presidential Election Reform Act, a set of electoral reforms to protect elections from lawmakers’ interference. This legislation would regulate the counting of electoral votes, make it more difficult for lawmakers to stop certification with illegitimate or invalid objections, clarify the vice president’s ceremonial role in certifying elections, among other election protections.

The Senate is poised to vote on a similar bill to reform the Electoral Count Act. Join us by demanding the Senate pass Electoral Count Act reforms in order to keep our democracy safe.
