MUFG needs to hear from you ; TAKE ACTION! (RAINFOREST ACTION NETWORK)

 

Japanese Megabank MUFG is climbing the ranks as one of the world’s biggest funders of fossil fuels, including methane gas (aka liquefied “natural” gas or LNG) expansion across the US Gulf South. They’re financing projects like Rio Grande LNG, a terminal planned near the port of Brownsville, Texas, and the associated Rio Bravo pipeline, that are being built WITHOUT the consent of Indigenous and local communities. Plus, another planned neighboring project that directly overlaps with Indigenous sacred sites, Texas LNG, is asking MUFG for financing right now. Sign the petition demanding MUFG back away from Rio Grande LNG before it moves forward. Sign the Petition! From every angle, Rio Grande LNG will be a disaster: It will create more pollution for local Latine and Indigenous communities who are already facing the brunt of climate disasters and health impacts from fossil fuels It will pave over critical wetlands and destroy wildlife habitats It’s just 6 miles away from a SpaceX facility that’s already exploded – with debris landing on the proposed Rio Grande LNG site The climate, human rights, health and safety impacts are so glaringly bad, that several other banks have already dropped the project altogether and even publicly denounced it — so why hasn’t MUFG? It’s time for MUFG to listen to local communities and YOU, and back out of Rio Grande LNG.
