Donald Trump wants to privatize the Postal Service. He tried during his first term, and our coalition fought him every step of the way. We helped expose the plan, mobilized a public outcry, built bipartisan pressure, and won again and again. Then Trump returned to the White House for his second term determined once again to sell USPS to the highest bidder and finish the job. His administration publicly floated firing the USPS Board of Governors. We helped channel the outrage that put a quick stop to that illegal scheme. He tried to force the Postal Service under the control of the Commerce Department. We stopped that too. His first set of nominees to the Postal Board could have tilted control toward privatization, corporate cronyism, and political sabotage. They didn’t even get a nomination hearing. Our strategy is working because we never give up, we stay vigilant, and remember not to treat these attacks as isolated fights. We connect the dots. We expose Wall Street greed. We pressure Congress. We pressure the Board. We mobilize the public before bad decisions become irreversible. And because of supporters like you, we have sent over 4 million letters (and counting) to Congress.
Trump’s allies are always on the look out for the next opening to weaken universal service, cut jobs, and try to break apart the post office and sell off the profitable bits to private logistics giants. We are winning because we refuse to let up. But winning this fight takes resources. It takes rapid-response organizing, research, coalition coordination, direct pressure on decision-makers, and the ability to move fast every time Trump, the Board, or greedy corporate profiteers try to make their next move. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately: We will keep fighting and we’ll keep winning, with your support. Thank you for everything you’re doing to save the post office. - Annie Annie Norman (she/her)
