When we started this campaign, Donald Trump had nominated Anthony Lomangino and John LaValle to the USPS Board of Governors, two very wealthy Wall Street types with deep ties to Trump and zero experience with the Postal Service. John LaValle is a longtime GOP operative, a former GOP party boss and MAGA surrogate whose loyalty to Trump goes all the way back to 2016. Anthony Lomangino is a Mar-a-Lago insider and Trump megadonor with deep business ties to the new Postmaster General. Lomangino’s company donated nearly $9 million to a pro-Trump super PAC, and he once gave $150,000 to defend Trump associates under federal investigation. These men aren’t public servants, and they don’t know the first thing about running the post office. But they are part of a deliberate scheme to dismantle public oversight from the inside in order to fast-track USPS privatization, which has been Trump’s goal all along. The good news is that we got Senators’ attention after sending more than 200,000 direct messages to Congress, and suddenly both nominees were pulled from the most recent hearing! In fact, the Trump administration quietly withdrew John LaValle’s nomination completely! This is HUGE. The pressure is working. But, we still have to finish the job and block Lomangino’s confirmation too, because let’s be clear: A vote to confirm Lomangino is a vote to gut the post office. Tell your Senators that a vote to confirm Anthony Lomangino, Trump’s USPS nominee, is a vote to privatize the post office. Reject Lomangino now!
If confirmed, Lomangino would have enormous influence over critical USPS decisions, from rate increases to mail delivery standards to the sole hire/fire power over the Postmaster General. We’ve seen how Trump-selected leaders like Louis DeJoy have raised prices, slowed down mail, and damaged faith in the Postal Service. This is the next phase of that plan. The privatization playbook starts with setting USPS up to fail so it can be sold off for parts to Wall Street. The USPS is not for sale. It belongs to the people, not Trump’s Wall Street billionaire donors, not his political cronies, and not the corporations eager to make a profit while endangering rural deliveries, life-saving medications, and veterans’ benefits. We’ve had some victories here, but we’re still on the frontline of the privatization fight. Stand with us to protect the United States Postal Service by sending your message Let’s hold the line together and stop Trump’s USPS takeover. Annie. Annie Norman (she/her)
