Yesterday a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake shook western Colombia, destroying homes, collapsing schools and hospitals, and leaving families fearful for their children’s lives. At the time of sending this message, at least 100 people are reported to have died, including children, and thousands more have been affected, but we expect this number to rise.
Children are among the most vulnerable right now.We know from experience that children will need urgent support to access shelter, food and water and replace lost belongings. Those suffering injuries will need urgent access to medical support.
Save the Children is preparing to respond. Our teams in the worst-hit areas are working urgently to deliver vital relief based on priority needs – such as hygiene kits, safe spaces or child protection support. But we need your help to act fast.
Your donation to the Children’s Emergency Fund means we can:
Respond immediately when a crisis like this hits
Deliver lifesaving aid to children in Colombia and wherever the need is greatest
Protect children’s futures in the aftermath of disaster
