U.S (THE NATIONAL REDISTRICTING ACTION FUND) : a MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT OBAMA.

Dear friend,

Threats to the right to vote still persist more than 56 years after “Bloody Sunday”' -- the day when civil rights heroes, like my friend John Lewis, were beaten by police on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. These young and brave activists were peacefully marching for voting rights -- and though the courage of all those who marched that day helped pave the way for the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the struggle still continues.

This year’s anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” should serve as a reminder that the march for our fundamental rights is not yet over. There are more steps to take and more bridges to cross.

The All On The Line team has a plan to secure voting rights. It starts with helping folks like you ask Congress to pass the For the People Act. Can I count on you to make a donation to support their pursuit of making our democracy work for everyone ?

Within the past decade, there have been new -- yet familiar -- threats to the fundamental tenets of our democracy. And over the last year, attacks on the right to vote have only escalated. More than 250 voter suppression bills have been introduced in 43 states, including Georgia -- a state where Black, Asian, and young voters turned out in droves in recent elections.

We know these undemocratic attempts to codify voter suppression are no accident -- they are deliberate attempts to undermine our democracy. But we can continue the work of the generations that came before us to secure the right to vote for every American. There is a clear path forward. We just have to be brave enough to go down that road.

I believe the single-most powerful word in our democracy is “we.” We the People. We shall overcome. Yes we can. And what a glorious task we are given to continually try and improve our great nation.

That’s what the For The People Act will do. It will help improve this nation. So here’s what I’m asking : Will you make a donation to All On The Line ? They are working to make sure the Senate hears from their constituents before the For the People Act is voted on. This sort of advocacy work is essential to the path of protecting and expanding the right to vote.

I believe that loving this country requires more than singing its praises or avoiding uncomfortable truths. It requires the occasional disruption and the willingness to speak out for what is right.

It’s time to make our voices heard,
Barack Obama.
