US (STOP THE MONEY PIPELINE) : Tell CONGRESS to fight legal immunity BIG OIL ; TAKE ACTION!

 

This fall, the Supreme Court will consider a case brought by Boulder, Colorado, which is seeking to get Exxon-Mobil and Suncor to pay for the cost of local climate damages caused by the companies’ decades of climate deception, disinformation, and lies. Boulder’s lawsuit has been advancing toward trial after Colorado’s highest courts denied Big Oil’s attempts to dismiss the case. However, the Supreme Court’s review will now determine whether Boulder’s case against ExxonMobil and Suncor can proceed, which may have major implications for similar lawsuits across the country. In response, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Representative Pramila Jayapal are organizing a congressional amicus brief in support of Boulder’s lawsuit, arguing to the court that, given the massive costs of the climate crisis and the well-documented deception campaign led by corporations like Exxon-Mobil, it’s critical the case goes to trial. The more Members of Congress who add their voices to the amicus brief, the more powerful it will be.
