These grants help local groups convene gatherings, mobilize allies, travel to defend their territories, and respond quickly when threats arise. In the past year alone, supporters like you helped distribute more than $825,000 in Community Action Grants across 14 countries, strengthening grassroots advocacy initiatives protecting forests and community rights. And that support is already helping drive powerful victories. Late last year, Indigenous women and community leaders traveled more than 3,000 kilometers as part of the Answer Caravan. Together, they highlighted agribusiness’s destructive expansion into the Brazilian Amazon as they journeyed toward COP30 in Belém. Along the way, they gathered communities, shared frontline stories, and brought Indigenous-led climate solutions to the world stage—making it impossible for negotiators to ignore the voices of the people protecting the Amazon. At COP30, Munduruku leaders and allies continued that momentum through direct action—blocking access to demand protection for their territory—helping secure a historic step toward recognition of their ancestral lands along the Tapajós River. These wins show what’s possible when frontline communities have the support they need to act. |
