U.S : GUNS are a kitchen table issue.

 

 

 

Friend,       No other country in the world regularly hears about young men bringing weapons of war into schools and killing kids. But in America, it happens yearly―and nothing has been done.   Our politicians are gripped by inaction because our institutions broken. The filibuster has been weaponized to the point that majorities don’t even try to legislate―leaving policy making to Executive Orders and judicial rulings. That’s not the system that the constitution laid out. But it's the one that led us here, with right-wing judges perverting the meaning of the 2nd amendment over the past 50 years.   In 2013, after the Sandy Hook massacre, a compromise gun reform bill written by Joe Manchin and Republican Pat Toomey got 54 votes in the Senate, but lost because of the filibuster.       Now is not the time for Democrats to retreat on a holiday weekend, or go back to talking about high drug prices. Gun violence is an issue at every kitchen table in the country.
