EU (BLUE MARINE and ONLY ONE) : Should EUROPE spend your money on helping the OCEAN or hurting it?

 

Hi friend, It’s a no-brainer: taxpayers’ money should help restore our ocean and support thriving coastal communities, not fund their decline.  But under current policy, large-scale and destructive vessels like bottom trawlers receive far more public funds than the small-scale, low-impact operators simply trying to make a sustainable living.  Why is our money being used to incentivise overfishing, ecosystem damage and habitat loss?  The good news is it doesn’t have to. Over the next few days (possibly as soon as Tuesday), EU ministers will vote on a new subsidies budget — which means we have a chance to remind them what’s at stake.
