Indonesia (RAINFOREST ACTION NETWORK): Will you help us send $10,000 to KALIMANTAN?

 

Friend, Right now, fires are burning across the Kalimantan region of Borneo in Indonesia – sending smoke across communities and threatening one of the most important rainforest regions on Earth. Kalimantan’s forests shelter some of the planet's rarest and most endangered wildlife, and have sustained Indigenous and local communities for generations. But now, rampant forest fires are directly threatening the survival of wildlife and communities. When endangered orangutans have been found, they've been transported to safety, others are leaving the trees and traveling along busy roads to escape the smoke and fire. RAN is preparing an emergency grant — $10,000 in direct funding for frontline partners in the region. Today, we’re urgently asking you to help us match it. MATCH RAN'S GRANT These forests and the people who depend on them were already under tremendous pressure. For decades, industrial expansion and deforestation have cleared and fragmented rainforests across Indonesia. And as the climate crisis brings hotter, drier conditions, fire becomes even more dangerous. Forest destruction leaves landscapes and communities more vulnerable when disaster strikes. Through our Community Action Grants program (CAG), RAN moves resources directly to Indigenous and frontline partners defending their territories, protecting forests, and challenging the corporations driving destruction. “The situation is urgent.
