US (STOP THE MONEY PIPELINE) : Call CONGRESS to demand NO IMMUNITY FOR BIG OIL! [URGENT]

On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee will hold a markup of H.R. 8330, a.k.a the Big Oil immunity bill. This dangerous legislation seeks to put Big Oil above the law, giving fossil fuel companies a broad legal shield against any laws or lawsuits seeking to hold them accountable for their role in the climate crisis.

A bill markup is when Members of a congressional committee vote on sending it forward to the full U.S. House for a vote. This is a clear sign that Big Oil’s puppets in Congress are intent on giving fossil fuel companies legal immunity before the current congressional term ends.

Call Members of Congress on the House Judiciary Committee now to demand that they oppose granting Big Oil legal immunity from accountability for its climate crimes.

It is critical that Members of Congress who serve on the House Judiciary Committee attend the markup and voice their opposition to this dangerous legislation.

Several members of the House Judiciary Committee members — including Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) — have said they oppose giving immunity to Big Oil. But even the majority of Democrats on the committee have still not taken a public position against the bill.

It’s time to make our voices heard: Call the Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee who haven’t yet taken a position on the bill ― and urge them to oppose legal immunity for Big Oil this Wednesday.

This rapid response toolkit has everything you need to know. Background about the bill, numbers to call, and a call script. Taking this action will take less than five minutes, and if thousands of us call, it will make a big difference.

Big Oil caused the climate crisis. It needs to be held accountable.

In Solidarity

PS: If there are Members of Congress from your state on the committee, prioritize calling them. If there isn’t, call any Members who have not yet spoken out against this bill. It’s critical they know this is a national issue.
