Every fossil fuel project brings us closer to an uninhabitable climate and invariably harms the communities they’re in – like Freeport LNG in Freeport, Texas. Freeport LNG is one of the largest liquefied “natural” gas (LNG) — aka methane gas — export terminals in the country. Don’t believe the lies that LNG is a “clean” fuel. Not only does methane have 80 times more climate-warming power than carbon, it’s extremely volatile.1 Three years ago, in June 2022, a pipeline rupture at the facility caused a massive explosion, injuring several people and releasing incredible amounts of toxic emissions into the air.1 This was just one in a string of dangerous events since 2019 — and it likely won’t be the last. Sign our petition that’ll be hand-delivered by Freeport community members demanding insurers put people and planet over short-term profit and stop insuring methane terminals. |
