![]() At the end of April, we hosted a campaign kickoff call for the Divest Public Money from Elon Musk campaign. As outlined in our campaign toolkit, the campaign has two major goals:
More than 1,500 people signed up to join the campaign kickoff call, including the Lehigh County Controller, Mark Pinsley. Two weeks later, the $500 million Lehigh County pension fund became the first in the country to halt new investments in Tesla, citing concerns about Elon Musk’s political activity and its impacts on the company. This was a huge win for the movement fighting to hold Musk accountable for his deadly and unconstitutional gutting of the federal government. But it’s not just Lehigh County. From Dallas to Madison to Seattle to Boston to Indianapolis to Philadelphia, there are now efforts underway to push city governments to cut ties with Musk’s companies and to get public pensions to divest from Tesla. Elon Musk wants to divest the government of critical services. So instead, we’re pushing governments to divest from Elon Musk. But this is a grassroots-led campaign―and we can’t do it without people like you. Sign up to lead or join a local Divest Musk campaign in your community. If you’re interested in leading a campaign, let us know by indicating that on the form and we’ll be in touch. We are providing campaign leads with coaching and support in their campaigns. If you only want to participate in a campaign, let us know when you complete the form and we’ll connect you with a local organizer, if there is one in your area. From Germany to the US, Elon Musk is boosting far-right, fascist politics. One of the most powerful ways we can hold him accountable is by making sure that there is a financial cost to his political machinations―and you can do that by starting or joining a Divest Musk campaign in your community. Lehigh County was the first pension in the country to halt new investments in Musk’s companies. The only question is who is going to be next. In Solidarity,
