Trump’s attempt to take over the USPS Board of Governors is moving fast, and the Senate could help him pull it off. But, I also have big news that our pressure campaign is working. After we sent 28,518 direct messages to targeted senators demanding a no vote against Trump’s four nominees to the Postal Board – Jeffrey Brodsky, William Gallo, Anthony Lomangino, and Robert Steffens – the administration just dropped two of them from the hearing last week! Anthony Lomangino and Robert Steffens are out! That’s 2 down and 2 more to go! This is huge, but the fight isn’t over. If the two nominees left get voted out of Committee and confirmed by the full Senate, Trump will still take a giant leap forward in his long-running plan to privatize the Postal Service. The more MAGA allies Trump gets on the Board the more control he has over the decisions that shape USPS pricing, delivery standards, post office access, postal leadership, the future of universal service, and importantly–election mail. The timing of these nominees is no coincidence. These board seats have been empty since Trump took office last year, but this year is a major election year, and he wants control of election mail. These guys are wealthy corporate Trump donors and financiers with no meaningful public service record defending the Postal Service, postal workers, rural access, affordable mail, or vote by mail. Senators need to keep hearing from us before Committee members vote and before Leadership tries to rush these nominees to the floor. Public pressure helped stop Trump’s Postal Board nominees last year – and now we’ve stopped two more. We need to finish the job and take down the last two.
We can stop Trump’s Postal Board takeover before it becomes a done deal. Thank you for taking action today. - Annie and the Save the Post Office Coalition Team.
