Our good friends at Rainforest Action Network (RAN) are organizing a national day of action in solidarity with forest defenders around the world - and we encourage you to get involved.
In this moment of urgent, interconnecting crises, it can feel overwhelming to know where to focus. But one truth remains clear: there can be no climate solutions without protecting forests – and the people who defend them.
On March 6th, 2026, RAN and allies are organizing a National Day of Action targeting Oreo and its parent company Mondelēz International.
This may sound like a campaign about a cookie, but it’s much bigger than that.
Indigenous and local communities in Indonesia are fighting to protect their lands from deforestation and palm oil plantation expansion. As they defend their forests, they face violence, intimidation, criminalization, and even murder. These forest defenders are not only protecting their homes and livelihoods: They are safeguarding biodiverse forests that are some of our most powerful climate solutions.
When global companies like Mondelēz have supply chains linked to deforestation and other human rights abuses, they are enabling this grave injustice. Mondelēz won’t make those changes without public pressure. And pressure is already working.

WHAT: National Day of Action on Oreo
WHEN: March 6, 2026
HOW: Sign up to receive the #StopOreo Activist Toolkit and take action with supporters around the world.
However you can show up – whether that’s posting on social media to amplify, organizing with your network, or attending an event near you – you are sending a message to Mondelēz that profiting from deforestation and attacks on forest defenders is unacceptable.
This is our moment to push back against a system that lets companies like Oreo profit while the rest of us pay the price.
In Solidarity,
