U.S : Five anti-racist actions for the week of November 30.

Dear friend,

Georgia is on our minds, as the Peach State is expected to decide the fate of the U.S. Senate on January 5, 2021.1

If the Democrats were to pick up these two Senate seats and the two major political parties split the Senate, Vice President Kamala Harris would become the tie-breaking vote on major issues, such as Supreme Court nominations.2 While we know that congressional control is just one small step on our path to an anti-racist future, the potential of Democrats controlling the presidency and both houses of Congress means that we have a chance of making progress on critical issues, such as voting rights and reproductive rights, as well as the expansion of human and civil rights to underserved communities, including Black and Indigenous women, LGBTQIA+ people, and immigrants.

In helping elect the Reverend Raphael Warnock, Georgia would send its first African American senator--and the nation's only 11th African American senator--to the Senate.3,4 To help sway the elections in Georgia and shape a judicial system that is anti-racist, please consider taking one or all of the following actions :

Support The New Georgia Project. The New Georgia Project was critical in registering and turning out a historic number of voters between the ages of 18 to 29, people of color, and unmarried women.5 Please help the organization continue its critical work by either donating to the organization directly or purchasing an item on its Amazon wishlist.

Call or text Georgia voters. Fair Fight Action, the organization started by Georgia author, entrepreneur, and leader Stacey Abrams, offers many opportunities to phone-bank or send text messages to Georgia voters.

Help recruit canvassers in Georgia. While we are living during a deadly pandemic, Seed the Vote is offering some in-person volunteer opportunities, in addition to phone-banking and texting. Please share the link with family and friends in Georgia.

Help turn out Latinx voters. There are almost 1 million Latinx voters, largely working-class families of Mexican descent, who call Georgia home.6 Donate to Voto Latino's get-out-the-vote efforts.

Send postcards to Georgia voters. The website Postcards to Swing States generated close to 16 million personalized postcards to voters in swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, helping flip those states. The project is now hoping to do the same in the two runoff Senate elections in Georgia.

Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for our country !
