Dear friend, you recently signed a petition demanding Pasco County schools stop sharing children's personal data with the police. Thank you !
Since then, more than 30,000 Color Of Change members across the country, concerned teachers and parents, and civil liberties groups1 have called for an end to racist data-sharing practices in Pasco.2 And Superintendent Kurt Browning has heard us loud and clear.
During last week’s school board meeting, Browning angrily defended the school district’s practice of sharing private student data with law enforcement, parroting Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco’s misleading talking points.3
Dear friend, we can’t let Superintendent Browning spread misinformation while continuing to support policing and data-sharing that targets Black students and students with disabilities.
Dear friend, the petition you signed is spreading on social media. It was featured in a viral TikTok and covered in Tampa Bay Times, the news outlet that first broke this story. By signing our petition, you’ve helped us demand accountability from Pasco school officials. Together, we’re forcing Pasco leaders to answer tough questions and re-evaluate policies that harm Black students and students with disabilities.
But our fight is far from over, and our work doesn’t end with one petition. Right now, we need your help to keep the momentum going — to continue amplifying our demands and forcing decision-makers in Pasco to prioritize kids over cops.
Until justice is real,
Scott, Rashad, Arisha, Erika, Malachi, Ernie, Megan, Ericka, Madison, Ariel, Ana, McKayla, Trevor, and the rest of the Color Of Change team.
