Friend,
For more than 8 years now, The Natural History Museum has been pursuing a bold vision: to build a museum for the movement.
We
collaborate with frontline communities, artists, scientists, and
scholars to create new narratives about our shared history and future,
with the goal of educating the public, measurably influencing public
opinion, and inspiring collective action.
From last year’s Red Road to DC to our ongoing Words Are Monuments
project, our campaigns, exhibitions, expeditions and virtual events
could not happen without the dedication and commitment of our
collaborators, community partners, and supporters like you.
Our
team of staff, fellows, and community partners produce award-winning
exhibitions and films, participatory experiences, educational projects,
advocacy campaigns, and field-building initiatives to support community-led
land and water defense and spur scientists, heritage professionals, and
museums to advance climate and environmental justice.
With
this work, we are building a community of practice around a vision for
natural history that breaks from natural history’s colonial, imperialist
foundations. This other natural history is informed by a non-dominating
and non-exploitative relation to life, land, and labor, guided by an
obligation to generations past, present and future. It supports the
needs of communities that are standing in the way of extraction, making history for the future.
All of this is made possible with the support of people like you.
As the end of year approaches, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution today.
