Dear friend,
Yeah, he actually said that. Tuesday night Trump went on Twitter and escalated an already testy conflict with North Korea by threatening nuclear war. To make matters worse, Twitter is refusing to take action, stating that Trump’s words aren’t a violation of their terms of service. We've already seen Twitter take action to remove some of the most dangerous accounts from the network, it is now time that they apply the same standard to Donald Trump. For example, Twitter suspended Jayda Fransen for spreading videos inciting violence against Muslims1, yet Trump remains after spreading three of the videos she posted while also raising the specter of nuclear annihilation.
There is no excuse for inaction in the face of a potential nuclear war. Trump's words and conduct are not an amusing feature of the social media platform but a grave danger to the peace and stability of the world. Tell Twitter to treat the threat posed by Trump's actions seriously. #KickTrumpOffTwitter

Dear friend,
It’s not amusing. Donald Trump’s vicious daily rants on social media platform, Twitter, have taken a dangerous turn for the worse. After news broke that North Korea has expanded its nuclear capabilities, Donald Trump didn’t discreetly and seriously handle this impending threat with the Department of Homeland Security. Instead, he took to Twitter where he's publicly threatening North Korea with military action and posting pictures of military bombers.1 That’s right. Donald Trump publicly escalated an already dangerous conflict with a foreign adversary over a social media platform. How long will Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey let Donald Trump get away with abusive and dangerous behavior that the average user would be banned for ?
This is far from the first time Trump has used Twitter irresponsibly. In fact, he’s used the social media platform to bully everyday people, interact with prominent white nationalists, and plant conspiracy theories almost daily since he decided to run for President.2 And his actions on Twitter have real life consequences for the people he targets. After union leader Chuck Jones called Trump out for lying about saving 1100 jobs at a Carrier plant in Indiana; Trump released Jones’ name and workplace on Twitter. Immediately after, Jones was plagued with death threats and promises to burn down his house.3 Trump’s conduct on Twitter is so bad that there’s debate amongst lawyers about whether his tweets are actually breaking laws--some of his tweets have been thought to encourage violence against critics of his policies.4 And since he won the election, hate crimes have risen to levels not seen since September 11th.5
To add insult to injury, Twitter has a horrible track record of letting abuse run rampant. For years, people of color and women, particularly Black women, have been the victims of coordinated and vicious campaigns of online abuse.Yet Twitter continues to do nothing while millions of users are left alone to deal with racism and sexism.
Twitter provides a platform for people all over the world to express themselves and connect with like-minded communities. In times of crisis, it can be a lifeline for those in peril. In times of turmoil and unrest, it can provide an unfiltered and accessible communication network for those fighting for freedom. But the potential and power of the platform is undermined when Twitter allows Donald Trump to bully users and now, escalate a potentially dangerous conflict with North Korea.
