This week, Donald Trump joked about the Trail of Tears while insulting Elizabeth Warren's claims of Native American ancestry.
The Trail of Tears was a genocidal event, in which the American government forcibly relocated thousands of Native Americans, forcing them to march hundreds of miles with inadequate provisions. Thousands of Native Americans died during the cruel, forced march. But despite the horrors of The Trail of Tears, Donald Trump used it as a cheap punch line and as campaign fodder.
We must resist the temptation to accept Donald Trump's rhetoric as normal. Let's raise our voices together to condemn his remarks.
