All children deserve to see heroes that look like them.
Give a child a ticket to see “A Wrinkle in Time” today !
Dear friend,
Black Panther definitively showed the impact that representation can have, not only on the quality of a film but on audiences across the country and the world. So many children got to see heroes on the big screen that look like them, an opportunity that every child deserves.
That’s why Color Of Change has partnered with AMC Theatres® to send thousands of kids to see “A Wrinkle in Time” for free through the Give a Child the Universe Initiative.
On March 9th, Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time” will be released nationwide.Storm Reid plays Meg Murry, a Black teenage girl who travels through space and time to save her father.
Through donations from supporters like you, we will distribute tickets to schools and community organizations throughout the country. Imagine the joy of a whole classroom of kids finding out they get to watch this movie for free.
Kids deserve to see characters like themselves, embracing their individuality and power in “A Wrinkle in Time.” Yet unfortunately, we know that not all youth will have this opportunity.
Hollywood has spent a long time portraying Black folks negatively, or not at all. But movies like “Black Panther” and “A Wrinkle in Time” are helping to change this trend. By ensuring our children see this movie, we’re helping them envision a more compassionate and inclusive world for Black people. A world they have the potential to help build.
Until justice is real,
Rashad and the Color Of Change team
P.S. - By donating movie tickets, you're not only helping inspire children across the country but are supporting the work of an outstanding film director. With "A Wrinkle in Time," Ava DuVernay has become the first Black woman to direct a movie with a budget over $100 million. This is an important first. Donate to support Ava’s work today!
Color Of Change is building a movement to elevate the voices of Black folks and our allies, and win real social and political change. Help keep our movement strong.
