The people of Afghanistan were already facing brutal conflict and an ongoing economic crisis when two devastating earthquakes and five
fierce aftershocks struck in the past few days. UNHCR teams are on the
ground rushing to respond to the compounding crises and support as many

The second earthquake that hit Afghanistan on Wednesday was a massive
6.3 magnitude. This situation is unfolding, but reports indicate more
than 2,000 were killed and countless others are still missing, creating
yet another humanitarian disaster in the region.
