On
October 18th, VOCAL-NY held a Press Conference on the Serial Voucher
Discriminators List. David Gaynor, a Homelessness Union Leader, spoke at
the press conference. Alongside partners in Unlock NYC and Neighbors
Together, VOCAL-NY released the following report this week: "Serial Discriminators: Who is locking New Yorkers with vouchers out of the housing market?" The report highlights the landlords and brokers consistently engaging in Source of Income discrimination.
In the coming weeks, VOCAL-NY, alongside coalition partners, will develop legislation
to increase penalties against those engaging in this discriminatory act and eliminate credit checks for voucher holders. |
