Hi friend,
Did you know that east of the neon glow of Las Vegas, before you hit the shores of Lake Mead, there’s a treasure trove spanning over 32,000 acres ? Sacred spots revered by the Southern Paiute people, endangered flora that dazzles, and geological marvels that’ll have you gasping, “That’s in Vegas ?!”
But here’s the twist : This gem is under threat ! For years, unwelcome off-roading, littering, shooting, and illegal dumping have plagued the highly scenic area, threatening the vegetation, wildlife, sacred sites and the natural beauty.
✨ Enter : The proposed East Las Vegas National Monument ! Imagine a sanctuary that nurtures wildlife, enriches our culture, and offers recreational adventures galore.
- Rainbow Gardens : Not a fairy tale place but Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). The Rainbow Gardens is home to an eco-paradise teeming with rarities like the endangered Bearpoppy.
- Gypsum Cave : A cavern dating back to 3000 BC and a place central to the religious practices and ceremonies of the Southern Paiute Peoples.
- The Great Unconformity : Rocking a whopping 1.2 billion years of Earth’s geological history.
We did not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.
In solidarity,
