Yesterday, the Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) – a huge win for our climate. As it stands, the bill will invest $369 billion in climate action and energy security, including $60 billion in environmental justice investments. The IRA could help the US reduce planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030 relative to 2005 levels and – when paired with state and local action – play a huge part in delivering the 50% reduction that President Biden pledged to reach.   A victory like this would not have been possible without you. We are proud of the tens of thousands of Climate Reality Leaders, chapter members, supporters, and staff who helped shape key pieces, including the $27 billion clean energy technology accelerator, which will lower energy costs for families in underserved communities.   But the fight doesn’t stop here. The next hurdle is passing this bill in the House. And we can’t afford to fail, friend.             TAKE ACTION NOW >>             We acknowledge that the IRA is far from perfect. There are a few provisions that are too friendly to fossil fuel interests, and we will stand with our partners in the environmental justice movement to fight them every step of the way in the years ahead.    As the bill makes its way to the House, we need one massive final push to ensure we don’t lose this historic opportunity.        Tell your representatives we can’t wait any longer for meaningful climate action.
