Dear friend,
This month, we celebrate Color Of Change’s 17th anniversary.
Almost
two decades after COC’s founding in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,
our movement continues to make vital progress in the fight for racial
justice. Thanks to the dedication of members like you, we’ve already
seen some major wins in 2022 :
- Pressured AT&T to stop funding the far-right OAN Network. Your petition signatures ensured OANN — a major pro-Trump, white nationalist propaganda platform — was removed from DirecTV.
- Secured housing for Black families in Tampa facing eviction.
Your calls and text messages kept Black and low-income residents in
their homes, forcing the leasing company to honor lease agreements and
make necessary repairs.
- Pushed Disney to denounce Florida’s harmful “Don’t Say Gay” bill and pause political donations in the state. You spoke out and CEO Bob Chapek became a vocal opponent of the legislation, pledging at least $5M to overturn the bill.
- Launched the #BlackTechAgenda, a racial justice roadmap for Congress to create tech policies with real solutions to protect our communities from Big Tech.
There is
still so much work to be done to end the injustices that hold us back
and harm our communities. Together, I know that we can build the power
to rewrite the rules, change narratives, and transform the lives of
Black people in America. So friend, I’m personally asking — will
you make a contribution of $17 or more in recognition of our 17th
anniversary to support our work to make justice real for all of us?
Make Your Anniversary Gift
Our organization was born in response to a profound realization in the aftermath of Katrina : No one in power was nervous about disappointing Black people.
Climate
disasters aren't a simple misfortune. Hurricanes like Katrina, Ida, and
Ian are brutal illustrations of the ways climate change and structural
racism reinforce one another. And while we know that Black communities
will continue to bear the brunt of climate disasters disproportionately,
climate change is an issue that affects us all.
We need
decisive action from politicians and corporations to undo decades of
racist exploitation that target our communities. But creating the change
we deserve requires every single one of us to do our part— including
supporting movements for racial justice and Black-led community
organizing.
From
reforming our criminal justice system to ending the right-wing assault
on our civil rights and freedoms, Color Of Change is committed to
winning campaigns that create consequences for the racism and inaction
of those in power. Grassroots donations from folks like you keep our
movement accountable to everyday people, not corporations, lobbyists or
political parties. So friend, will you make a gift of $17 or more today to support our campaigns for justice?

This is our shared fate. Let us rise to the challenge of this moment, together.
Until Justice Is Real,
Rashad Robinson President Color Of Change.
