Ali* was rounded up last week in London, detained and given notice that he’s being deported to Rwanda. The problem is that Ali is from Afghanistan. He fled war and persecution to find safety and is, instead, being deported to a country on the brink of war. It’s happening to thousands. Afghans, Eritreans, Iraqis are all being targeted for this cruel plan to treat an unstable Rwanda like a dumping ground for unwanted human beings. With no plan for how to help them once they arrive on a foreign continent with nothing. We helped stop this once before. There’s a crew of brave volunteers ready to mount a defense for Ali and those like him. But they need to scale up right now. The UK government JUST passed a law to start the deportations ! Can you help ? DONATE €4Donate another amount Just last week alarming news reports came out that Rwanda could be, once again, about to fall into a brutal conflict with its neighbour, the Democratic Republic of Congo. The last time this happened, hundreds of thousands were killed, injured or displaced. But the UK government cares more about looking “tough on immigration” as it tries to boost its plummeting hopes in upcoming national elections. The world is made from more than right-wing politicians. And good people across the UK are coming together right now to confront the savagery. The volunteer-run group Care4Calais is working round the clock to mount an emergency response – staffing 24 hour helplines and providing immediate legal support to anyone detained. But the workload is surging and they’re tiny in number. That’s where we come in. If everyone reading this chips in the cost of a coffee, we can help them scale up fast, hiring new case-workers and the best lawyers to defend the human rights of every single person seized under this horrific plan. Can you help ? Thanks for all that you do,
