Friend,
Yesterday was the last day of Mental Health Awareness Month, and as the month cames to a close, we wanted to reflect on the ways Hip Hop Caucus elevated critical conversations about mental health and justice. This month, we hosted an Instagram Live discussion to elevate conversations about the unique challenges Black creators, especially artists, face when it comes to balancing mental health with the work they do. If you missed the livestream, check it out here! We also highlighted the “Care & Repair” episode of The Coolest Show this month, which featured a conversation between Rev Yearwood and Climate Critical’s Tamara Toles O’Laughlin. This episode shed a spotlight on burnout in the climate movement and the ways activists can leave space for themselves and their humanity while still fighting these critical fights. You can listen to the Care & Repair episode of The Coolest Show here! Mental Health Awareness Month may be ended, but our commitment to safeguarding the mental health of those in our communities is ongoing. We hope these will be helpful tools for you, and that you’ll share them with those in your life who may need them. For future generations,
Hip Hop Caucus. |
