Dear friend,
We’ve worked for 40 years to challenge corporate power — for people and planet. As the world has changed, our tactics have too : and you can take action with us, online, today. Since we started organizing in 1985, climate change has become a more pressing and ubiquitous issue — impacting thousands of people — year after year. From Hurricane Helene to the fires raging across Los Angeles, climate change is here, and it will impact all of us. So who’s to blame? Banks and insurance corporations are profiting from fossil fuel companies that drive up temperatures and cause increasing weather-related disasters around the world. 71% of global emissions are caused by just 100 companies. Big Agriculture corporations have been cutting down rainforests and planting monoculture crops that destroy the soil. Rainforests supply the world with rain, and they’ve stored carbon for thousands of years. Every acre of rainforest that gets destroyed adds to a rapidly warming world, and disrupts weather patterns that sustain our food and drinking water. Just 7 corporations own almost every brand on your grocery store shelves, and those corporations can collaborate to raise prices. So while you’re looking at your receipts in shock, corporations are enjoying incredible profits this year.
What do these facts all have in common? Corporate greed is behind increasingly unstable weather patterns, a warmer world, and higher prices for basic necessities. That’s why, in a challenging political landscape, we focus on fighting corporate power. So what can we do to stop them? With supporters from all around the world, we’re mobilizing online! We’re looking for people like you who want to do more and have a bigger impact. Our collective people power is the greatest force against corporate greed. Together, we can stop the destruction they’re causing to people and our planet. The new Digital Activist Network is a space for supporters to discuss creative ideas to fight for the climate, take action together, and build community with each other. All you have to do is sign up. |
