U.S : Dyma LOVING deserved justice, and she got it.

Dyma and her loved ones got the justice they deserved, but that doesn’t mean we can stop now.

Will you help us ensure Black women are heard and protected ?

Dear friend,

Dyma Loving, a 26-year-old Black mother, called for justice after she was brutally arrested in Miami-Dade County, and she won !

This is a massive win for Dyma and her family. This victory will continue to push the issue of police violence in Black communities into the national spotlight. In the aftermath of her attack, Dyma has dealt with trauma and confusion -- her livelihood and sense of safety have been disrupted. Together, we refused to allow Officer Giraldo to freely roam the street without being held accountable for his actions, setting a clear precedent that we will not tolerate police violence against Black women.

With over 20,000 Color Of Change members, we demanded State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle press criminal charges against Officer Giraldo for his brutal attack on Dyma. On May 3, Officer Giraldo was charged with first-degree misdemeanor battery and third-degree felony official misconduct.

Work still needs to be done. Justin Moore, Dyma's Counsel, has stated that Dyma believes the battery she experienced should have amounted to a felony, and the other officers at the scene should face similar charges. We must continue to analyze each officer's behavior under the same scrutiny with which we approached Officer Giraldo's actions -- every police officer needs to be held accountable to this standard.

It’s no secret that police officers seldom face criminal charges or accountability for their criminal behavior. Dyma's experience reveals what we already knew : the police don't protect Black women. While state-sanctioned violence against Black women is a practice that is deeply ingrained and legitimized, rarely are Black women included in this country's conversation on police brutality. It’s not an issue we can afford our elected officials to ignore or marginalize. With your help, we can change the status quo and create a world where Black women are protected

Until justice is real,
