U.S : Five anti-racist actions for the week of August 24.

Dear friend,

Calls for racial justice were echoed throughout last week's Democratic National Convention. In her speech accepting the party's historic vice presidential nomination, Kamala Harris said : "There is no vaccine for racism. We've gotta do the work. For George Floyd. For Breonna Taylor. For the lives of too many others to name."1

We continue to heed the call for an anti-racist world. Right now, consider taking one or all of the following five anti-racist actions :

Chip in to help dismantle racism in southeastern Wisconsin. We stand with Jacob Blake, a Black father who was shot at close range by Kenosha, WI., police in front of his three children. While Blake, thankfully, was not killed, he is paralyzed from the waist down.2 Police racism is harmful, deadly, and endangers communities. Support anti-racism work in the southeastern region of Wisconsin by chipping in to the YWCA of Southeast Wisconsin's fund to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

Watch and share our anti-racist, feminist webinar. Many thanks to the thousands of people who attended the live recording of our anti-racist, feminist webinar last week, "Pro-Blackness for People of Color." All of the spectacular insights by our panelists, including novelist and poet Aya de Leon, are now available on YouTube

Share these graphics celebrating Kamala Harris to show that you have her back. In the weeks leading up to Election Day, we will continue to dispel sexist and racist disinformation attacks by Republicans and other bad actors against Kamala Harris. Please follow UltraViolet on InstagramFacebook, and Twitter to share our social media content.

Demand justice for Breonna Taylor at the Kentucky Derby. The Ford Motor Company, which has expressed support for the Black Lives Matter movement, has fallen short of demanding justice for Breonna Taylor--even though the company employs a significant number of workers in Louisville, Ky., and is scheduled to co-sponsor the Kentucky Derby on September 5. We have been demanding justice for Breonna since she was shot at least eight times by three plain-clothes police officers and denied life-saving treatment in her own home almost six months ago. It is time that the Ford Motor Company do right by Breonna and her family and demand the firing, arrest, and charging of all three Louisville police officers who killed her.

Watch and share Survivors' Agenda's Black femme town hall. Last week, the Survivors' Agenda coalition, of which UltraViolet is a steering committee member, hosted a Black femme town hall that included a discussion with the #MeToo movement founder Tarana Burke, actress and trans activist Angelica Ross, and Rutgers University professor and co-founder of the non-profit organization A Long Walk Home, Salamishah Tillet. They discussed the importance of uplifting Black women and girl survivors, the importance of building a survivors' agenda that will keep Black women and girls safe, and why we need to amplify Black women and girls' political and personal power. They also addressed rape culture and accountability in the Black community.

Thank you for being a part of the UltraViolet community !
