Daniel’s Law Advocacy Day — NY must end the over-reliance on police and transform how we respond to people in need of help. Upcoming Events.

On Tuesday, Governor Kathy Hochul held the State of the State address in Albany. Leaders with VOCAL-NY's Homelessness and Civil Rights Unions rallied at the Capitol, despite Governor Hochul closing the Capitol to constituents during her address.

Missing from her proposed priorities : any policies that would keep life-saving overdose prevention centers open, provide supportive housing for people living with HIV, or create paths to permanent housing for those who need it now. Instead, we saw more of the same -- calls for continued criminalization and challenges to essential bail reform laws -- which will not make New York safer. See VOCAL-NY's full statement here.
