Friend, Greg Abbott failed to attend a single funeral for the Uvalde shooting victims. He hasn’t been to Uvalde since June 5. It’s been over two months since the tragedy occurred, and the Governor has yet to take any actionable steps to address failures made by state law enforcement agencies in their delayed response to the shooting and state laws that allow permitless carry.
Roland Gutierrez, Texas state senator representing Uvalde said, “Texas is in a crisis of neglect of infinite proportions, and Greg Abbott is doing nothing about it.” Gutierrez is calling on Abbott to fund the victim’s funerals and urging him to call a special session to raise the minimum age to buy an AR-15.
Abbott’s shortcomings are impacting residents across the state. The state's power grid is unequipped to deal with current climate emergencies - leaving millions across the state to fend for themselves amidst devastating heat waves. Further, there is his failing border policy that is Operation Lone Star, the political stunt that costs billions in taxpayer dollars and is the governor’s attempt to demonize immigrants at every turn. Ninety-one members of the Operation Lone Star task force were present at the Uvalde massacre, all equipped with military-grade paramilitary equipment.
Gutierrez adds, “In all of this, the big bad Operation Lone Star task force failed these children in Uvalde. They failed them. And they have to come to terms with that. And this governor has to come to terms with this.” Keep fighting,
