In the wake of the Jan. 6 insurrection, many corporations pledged to stop donations to the Sedition Caucus — the 147 Republican members of Congress who voted not to certify the 2020 election and helped fuel the lies that led to the attack.
These public promises quickly proved hollow. As of this writing, Fortune 500 companies and corporate trade groups have donated more than $16 million to Sedition Caucus members since the insurrection – nearly $1 million was given to GOP members of Congress being investigated by the Jan. 6 Select committee.
The attack on our democracy didn’t end with Jan. 6th. Across the country, lawmakers are pushing bills that would make it harder to vote, particularly for communities of color, and giving election deniers sprawling access to voting infrastructure that could undermine the electoral process.
If we want to protect our democracy, we must defund those who are trying to tear it down.
Thanks for all you do,
Erin Tulley, Daily Kos.
