Our work has been leading up to this moment : the 2021 redistricting process. Now, it's time to build on the progress we've made, and work to ensure a fair, transparent, and accountable process in states across the country. The GOP is mad right now, friend, because they've been locked out of power in Washington for the first time in a decade. They know their brand has become toxic, and American voters are turning away from them -- but that's exactly why they'll use the little power they have left to manipulate maps in their favor.
Back in 2011, Republicans drew districts in states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania that allowed them to win a majority of elections even when they earned fewer votes. You can bet that they're planning to scale up that strategy this time around.
We can't allow the GOP to draw maps that keep extreme politicians in power. But we only have one chance to stop them. Once the maps are drawn, they'll remain in place for 10 years.
