When the Trump administration enacted the Title 42 expulsions order, it effectively closed the nation’s doors and denied the right to seek asylum.    A year later, and the borders are still closed.    While President Biden has made strides in rolling back Trump’s draconian immigration policies, we are more than four months into the Biden administration, and the Title 42 expulsions order is still firmly in place. Experts concur – there is no public health rationale for denying people the right to seek asylum.    The Title 42 order not only puts the lives of the women, men, and children fleeing horrific violence in immediate danger, it also violates the legal right to asylum, while incorrectly claiming to be in the service of public health.        The evidence is clear : the Biden administration must end Title 42 border expulsions immediately and honor the legal right to seek asylum.
