ENSURE OUR SERVICE MEMBERS ARE TREATED WITH RESPECT
Dear friend, too many service members — including women, women of color and men — have endured sexual assault, but have been forced to suffer in silence for fear of being dismissed, or worse, retaliated against for coming forward. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
Having commanding officers in charge of prosecuting sexual assault cases is clearly not working. Survivors are often afraid to report assault or harassment out of fear of retaliation or lack of faith in the currently failing system rife with conflicts of interest.
The good news ? The Biden administration and members of Congress on both sides of the aisle have signaled they are serious about addressing harassment and assault in the military.
As the nation’s largest workplace, addressing sexual assault in the military is critical to ensuring safer and more equitable work environments for all. Will you join us, friend? It’s time for long overdue action to ensure our service members are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
With gratitude,
Latifa Lyles, VP Advocacy + Survivor Initiatives
