Dear friend, Two months ago, the Biden administration announced it would keep in place the low refugee admissions goal of 15,000 set by the Trump administration, breaking promises of a robust refugee resettlement program. Advocates, activists and everyday people rose up and demanded President Biden keep his promises and raise that historically low number. President Biden heard us ! And, in early May, he announced he would increase the refugee cap to 62,500. But we aren't done fighting on behalf of refugees. Keep the pressure on President Biden to follow through on his promise to admit and welcome 62,500 refugees into our country. The president has set the goal, and now we must hold him accountable. Add your name! Refugees have suffered globally as a result of the xenophobic, hateful refugee ban put in place by the Trump administration. Unfortunately, the Biden administration is perpetuating some of the harm to refugee communities by acting too slowly. Many refugees were ready to travel to the United States with their medical and security checks finalized, and were given false hope as hundreds of flights were cancelled. Now, many will have to wait months—or even years—to be reapproved for travel. This is harmful and unacceptable. Together, we have rallied and protested to declare that immigrants and refugees are welcome here. It's time for the Biden administration to uphold its promises. Add your name. Immigrant youth and allies fought to win DACA, and since then, we have fought to protect DACA and our communities against years of attacks. The House has acted; the Senate must now follow suit to provide a path to citizenship for immigrants under DACA, for farmworkers and other essential workers, and for those here because of emergencies in their home countries.
