Friend,    Just before the July 4 holiday weekend, the Biden administration announced their support of the Trump-era approval for the Line 3 tar sands pipeline. If constructed, the pipeline would carry nearly a million barrels of dirty tar sands oil per day. The news came as temperatures across the West Coast shattered all-time highs, as drought grips the Southwest, and as the real-time impacts of the climate crisis are on full display.    Add your name to this petition from Demand Progress. Withdraw your support for the disastrous Line 3 pipeline — and revoke the permits!              ADD YOUR NAME                                             Indigenous people have a right to clean water, as well as a right to protest — and Big Oil is threatening both. Canadian energy firm Enbridge plans to bulldoze beneath previously undisturbed, sacred sections of the Ojibwe watershed. If built, Line 3 would ship 760,000 barrels of oil each day, carrying bitumen, a heavy oil that sinks in water and therefore nearly impossible to clean up. This pipeline is a disaster for the climate. It is inconsistent with the reality of climate change. It threatens critical sources of clean water. And it fully disregards tribal rights. If Joe Biden is serious about being a climate president and honoring tribal rights, he must reject this pipeline now. We need to ramp up these demands immediately so that the Biden administration has no choice but to respond.
