Further, the high costs of prescription drugs are a financial burden not only on those who need medication, but they also raise premiums and taxes for the rest of us by increasing costs for insurance companies.    This isn't an issue of what we can afford. This year, Congress allocated more money to defense spending than it had since World War II. It's also not an issue of research and development. Many of the drugs Big Pharma charges exorbitant amounts for received public funding with taxpayer dollars. This is an issue of greed.
