Dear friend,         The internet can be a scary place, but it can be terrifying for Black women. Every day, Black women are harassed, doxxed, threatened, abused, and bullied online.1 In a study conducted by Amnesty International, it was found that Black women are nearly twice as likely as white women to experience abuse, harassment, and racial slurs online.2              Black women deserve our love, not our hate.    And you know Big Tech ? Those companies that are all up in everyone’s business and are definitely listening to your conversations and watching your online activity ? They’re letting this abuse happen and do basically nothing to stop it. They know all about what kind of toothpaste brand you prefer but somehow can’t seem to identify misogynoir – misogyny directed specifically at Black women – online. Then, if a Black woman dares to defend herself, she is often banned or muted on these online spaces while her harasser is free to continue their behavior.3    That’s why Color Of Change is investing in research to track increased misogynoir online.
