Week in Review.

On Tuesday, VOCAL-NY leaders joined the Housing Justice for All coalition in a mass rally at the Capitol to urge lawmakers to pass #GoodCause. The legislation would combat displacement by extending protections for renters and bolstering the state’s anti-discrimination laws. Activists flooded the statehouse, and werejoined by lawmakers at a press conference before more than 50 people were arrested by Capitol police. There’s just days left in the legislative session, and it’s time lawmakers step up and protect New York tenants by passing #GoodCause.

Futures NYC.

This month, VOCAL-NY joined Make the Road NY and Hester Street to launch the Futures NYC campaign, an initiative to promote bold policy solutions through the lens of artists from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Through Futures NYC, artists from all across New York City will demonstrate that art can be the catalyst for a just, equitable city.
