U.S : Cory and Kamala can't do it alone : tell all neutral Dems, indecision is injustice !

Stop the hijacking of the Supreme Court by joining Cory and Kamala in this fight

Tell the all the neutral Dems : indecision is injustice!

Dear friend,

Senators Cory Booker and Kamala Harris are leading the charge against the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and we need to have their back !1 While Cory and Kamala are willing to break the rules and put everything on the line to fight against the GOP’s efforts to hijack the Supreme Court, some members of the Democratic caucus are still wavering while their Black peers are doing the heavy lifting. Doug Jones, Claire McCaskill, Joe Manchin, and Joe Donnelly need to stand by Cory Booker and Kamala Harris and the Black voters who elect them by opposing this nomination now !2

Senator Kamala Harris kicked off the hearing by interrupting Chairman Grassley's introduction by demanding an answer for why the hearings were proceeding despite Democratic senators receiving over 42,000 pages of documents just hours prior.

Senator Cory Booker has already released records and emails unjustly designated confidential and kept hidden from the public, jeopardizing his career, in an effort to show us how unfit Kavanaugh truly is for the Supreme Court 3. We have already seen the Trump Administration’s terrible agenda of stolen migrant children, xenophobic bans on Muslim travel and a rise of white supremacist hate in this country, Kavanaugh will carry the torch by tearing down decades of hard fought progress :

  • Rolling back even further on federal voter protections allowing right wing attacks on the freedom to vote of  Black communities across the country.
  • Eliminating affirmative action policies in high schools and colleges vital to Black students gaining access to high quality education throughout the country.4
  • Working alongside the GOP to destroy organized labor and union efforts that fight for working class and Black families.5
  • Completely gut the affordable care act, including allowing Trump to defy court rulings at his whim, ensuring that poor people and those with pre-existing conditions suffer most.6
  • Overturn Roe v Wade and the medical resources the ruling ensures, further endangering the lives of Black women who are already 243 percent more likely to die from pregnancy or childbirth related causes than white women.7

While Cory and Kamala have been throwing down, activists from across the country have also been protesting everyday during these confirmation hearings, facing arrest and putting their bodies on the line because they understand just how much is at stake 8; yet Democrats like Doug Jones, Claire McCaskill, Joe Manchin and Joe Donnelly refuse to take a strong stance against Kavanaugh despite how dangerous he is for democracy. With so much on the line, it is breathtaking that there are any Democrats still undecided on whether to oppose Kavanaugh and push back against this Administration’s agenda. Call them right now and let them know that there is no neutrality in the face of injustice !

Donald Trump has a long term plan in forcing this nomination : he thinks that Brett Kavanaugh will protect him from the current federal criminal investigation from special counsel Robert Mueller while the GOP is forcing it to ensure their right wing extremist agenda is protected long beyond his presidency. No president under federal criminal investigation should be allowed to nominate a Supreme Court justice ever, especially with ethics as questionable as Brett Kavanaugh, who believes that sitting presidents are above the law9.

Surviving through this presidency alone is not enough; a Supreme Court justice is a lifetime appointment. All Democratic senators need to show up like Booker and Harris and fight for what is right. Democrats have the opportunity to regain the trust of the people who put them in office by uniting in opposition against hate.
