Dear friend,
A federal court has upheld a Kentucky law designed to cut off abortion access through heavy restrictions on health centers that have nothing to do with medical safety – and everything to do with stripping people of their bodily autonomy.
The law will now require the last two health centers in the state that offer abortions to get a written transfer agreement with a local hospital and a transport agreement with an ambulance in order to operate. Without these medically unnecessary agreements, the health centers will need to apply every 90 days for a waiver from the health department.
If the state chooses to refuse the waiver for any reason, Kentucky could lose every abortion health center in the state.
Politicians across the country have coordinated to push over 480 abortion restrictions like this one since 2011. They need to know that there is a massive movement of voters who won’t stand for these cruel restrictions on the right to access safe, legal abortion.
